Famitsu: Splatoon 3 Has Seventh Week At #1 And Persona 5 Switch Debuts #2

Thursday is Famitsu sales chart day, where we find out which games sold the most physical copies over the past week in Japan. Famitsu has released the Oct. 17 – Oct. 23 chart, and Splatoon 3 has kept the #1 spot with 66,000 copies sold, despite competition from Persona 5 Royal for Nintendo Switch selling 46,000 units. The console sales chart also show the PS5 surpassing two million units sold, which we’ve reported here.

This week marks Splatoon 3‘s seventh week at #1, after it had a record-breaking launch in Japan. Momentum is slowing down for the game, but for now it has kept the top spot and continues to be the best selling game of the year in Japan. There were a few new entries to the Famitsu sales chart this week, with Persona 5 Royal on Nintendo Switch and PS5 making the list, as well as Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher. Gran Turismo 5 has also climbed back onto the chart after slipping off, and taking the fourth spot.

Next week we’ll see exactly how Bayonetta 3 performs over its opening weekend after its Friday Oct. 28 release. The drama between Hellena Taylor and Platinum Games and the glowing initial reviews have been great publicity for the game. Bayonetta 3 will also be the first Switch-exclusive game for the series, with the former Bayonetta 2 having its debut on Wii U.
