The PlayStation VR2 version of No Man’s Sky will be ready at launch

The upcoming PlayStation VR2 version of No Man’s Sky will be released on the same day the headset is launched, developer Hello Games has confirmed.

Hello Games announced earlier this year that it was working on a PlayStation VR2 version but, as spotted by Eurogamer, the description under the game’s PS VR2 trailer on the PlayStation Store was recently updated, stating that the free upgrade would be “coming February 2022”.

Given that this clearly isn’t possible, it was suggested that this could have been a typo and should have actually said “coming February 22”, the date PlayStation VR2 launches.

After Eurogamer asked Hello Games if this was the case, the developer confirmed that the release date is indeed February 22, 2023, meaning it will be available on day one.

The PlayStation VR2 update for No Man’s Sky will be free to all players who already own the existing game.

According to the PS VR2 version’s description: “The power of PlayStation 5, coupled with the all-new PlayStation VR2 hardware, including the new Sense controllers, combine together to take the sense of immersion and believability up another level.”

Sony announced earlier this month that PlayStation VR2 will officially launch on February 22, 2023, priced at $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99.

This makes the headset more expensive than the PlayStation 5 console itself.

There will also be a $599.99 / €649.99 / £569.99 bundle which includes a PlayStation Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain.

While the launch titles for the headset have yet to be officially confirmed, on the same day PS VR2’s release date was confirmed Sony also announced 11 new games set to arrive on the headset throughout 2023, some of which will be available on day one.

Of the 11 games it announced, however, only The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR and Crossfire: Sierra Squad appear to be exclusive to PS VR2. The other nine titles are already available on (or are coming to) other formats, and appear to be either ports or enhanced versions of PS VR titles.
