After about a year and a half of waiting, fans of the Halo series get the news they’ve been hoping for since Halo Infinite’s release—Infection Mode is coming to the game. On May 19, Halo’s Twitter account announced that Infection would return in Season 4, on June 20.
Infection Mode, a multiplayer zombie game type, has been a staple in the Halo series for many of their games. In Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 2: Anniversary, and Halo 5: Guardians, Infection Mode was present, allowing players to split into teams of Survivor and Zombie with separate goals. In the past, this mode would normally come with the base game rather than being a later add-on, but that was not the case for Infinite.

It may be easy to get lost in such big news, but Infection Mode isn’t the only thing coming with Infinite’s Season 4. In the latest Spartan Chatter episode, where Halo’s developers provide direct updates to the community, it was also announced that there would be the addition of other features: Spartan customization, Bonus XP weekends, and a “Career Rank” progression system.
As fans wait for Season 4 in anticipation, and more details about what it has to offer, some are excited while others are annoyed these features weren’t included in the base game to begin with. This seems to have become more common as other popular franchises have been leaving out seemingly important features from their game’s launches. The Sims 4, for example, did not come with pools, ghosts, or even toddlers.
