Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Solve The Library Clock Puzzle

Controlling Ashley in Resident Evil 4 Remake shifts the gameplay into a far more tense and dangerous perspective. Unlike Leon, she isn’t trained to defend herself from these biological threats, but that doesn’t mean she can’t solve a puzzle or two! Perhaps to make up for the lack of action, Ashley’s puzzles may be the hardest ones in the game.

The best example of this comes when you enter the Library and find a big clock that requires you to set the correct time. Unlike a combination lock, such as the one in the Village Chief’s Manor, you have no hope of brute forcing this puzzle through trial and error. This guide will save you a ton of time by showing you how to solve the Library clock puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

How to Solve the Library Clock Puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Technically, this clock puzzle is two puzzles, since there are two clocks you can set the time on to open up similar doors. However, we count them as one since the same solution works on both clocks. The only note nearby with a hint on how to solve this puzzle is right beside the second clock you come to near the Hidden Mausoleum.

We call it a hint, but it just spells out the solution. The note just reads, “11.04 Clock.” Putting on our thinking caps, we have deduced that the solution would, by our calculations, be to set the clock to 11:04. But wait, there’s one last thing to know! That solution only applies to Assisted or Normal difficulty levels. If you’re playing on Hardcore or Professional, the solution will switch to 7:00.

Move the hands to the correct positions (the short hand on the XI and the long hand just before the I if you’re unfamiliar with either analog clocks or Roman numerals) and the clocks will open up the way forward.

NOTE: DO NOT SOLVE THE CLOCK PUZZLE AND GET THE INSIGNIA BEFORE GOING UP THE LIFT. THIS CAN CAUSE THE LIFT BUTTON TO STOP WORKING AND PREVENT YOU FROM PROGRESSING. This is a known issue that has not yet been addressed.
